Good For You
It is people like this person that is going to change our society's way of thinking. I am very proud of this person and wish him well. Once again very small step, but a big one as well.
As someone who's been there, lemme tell you that WE had some really wild one-on-one and group sex at Boy Scout camp with the scout master's Eagle Scout son as the ring leader ... the adults didnt try to stop us and maybe they were too busy doin each other. And this my friends, was a good 50+ years ago !!!
LONG LIVE THE BSA.. best and safest place in the world to get laid.
Well I am gay and a former scout and scouter and an Eagle scout, but I have to say if the organization wants to stay straight and not allow openly gay scouts and leaders in that should be there right as a private organization. There is nothing stopping the gay community in starting its own gay scout group. There is also the Girl Scouts boys. Being out and gay doesn't mean you have to force the acceptance of your life style on every aspect of society. Who I am is not based on what others think of me. Get a life guys.
Here in rainy old England [yes, it is still raining even when its hot] we have that fabulous explorer and adventurer Bear Grylls [you may have seen his stunning tv shows] as head of the British Boy Scouts. He openly supports the inclusion of gays in the Scouts and no-one here says anything about it [usually because it takes a Scout to try and find a straight person here in England anymore, LOL!]. Any organization that bans/forbids any group is discriminatory; end of.
I don't think that being gay is a "lifestyle", but part of someone's identity. Yes, there are lifestyles within the gay community (as there are among heterosexuals), but that's a totally different matter. What do you think would have happened if, in the past, people who didn't want women or black people, or whatever other group that was discriminated, to have the same rights as everybody else and if those people had been given the right to continue to discriminate while society as a whole was moving on? Things would never have changed! If we think that being gay is okay, we should be able to be that, wherever we are, and that doesn't necessarily imply that you have to wear your pink triangle everywhere or that you live out your particular fetish, if you have one, whever you want, but it's by no means acceptable anymore to be banned from places becahse of fhe mere fact that you're gay. It's still necessary, unfortunately, to make a stand for gay rights and well done Mr Baker, for doing so. Another small step that will help humankind to move forward!

ReplyDeleteJust crying. The letter is so amazingly simple, and to the point.
ReplyDeleteall this anti-gay and it's well known that only the gay kids continue all the way thru.
ReplyDeleteand the gay parents that they have been banning as women not men. Hence they are banning people that will not look to rape the boys!
Main issues Boy Scouts is a bible following neo-conversative group.
