Bigotry is at the root of most evil.
I think anyone whos homophobic is usually often racist and sexist as well - all three bigoted attitudes are very often linked together.
The one of problems of religious fundamentalists is that they do not change with time. They are stuck in the past. They quote scripture from thousand of years that have no refer to modern time.

Saying that everyone who hates gays wants to kill them is like saying all gays are whores. Plus the bible says that hating is a sin, but there is difference between hating and not approving. I don't approve of people who drink, but I don't hate them for it.
