Last August I went to Ireland. I found that like most everyone else in the world, they were fascinated with Texas. They wanted to know how I lived and what Texas was really like.
They had difficulty understanding Texas politics. Simply could not understand why Texans don't vote for President Obama. It is impossible to explain to them that Texans are self reliant, freedom loving people who want no part of government protection from cradle to grave.
It is hard to explain to them that the Texas flag is the only state flag that is authorized to fly at the same level as the U. S. flag while the flags of other states must fly below the U. S. flag.
It really is true that "Texas is a whole nother country," and another state of mind.
