Unfortunately I have known how you feel. After one too many years I made the decision to do it like any other chore that needs doing but hate. I don't feel like this every year but I prefer to fight against the negative feelings and distorted reasoning that would keep me from this. I wouldn't say it miraculously changed my mood or anything. But I have never regretted completing the chore but I have always regretted not.
Thinking of you and wishing you well as I look at my shinny cowboy boot ornament that I keep out all year.
These holidays force some people to have high expectations that sometimes can't be met. In a few weeks this will all pass like everything else does and we can all look forward to Spring.
